Top Down Exterior Cleaning was started by a former firefighter who traded the fire truck for a pressure washing rig so he could be home with his family every night. Today we bring that same pride, training, and work ethic to every home and business across Lakeland and Polk County.
Meet the Owner
Once upon a time, a firefighter lived on a sailboat in Nawiliwili Bay on the island of Kauai. Every day felt like a holiday, filled with fishing, diving, surfing and hiking. At work, he protected the airfield at the Barking Sands Naval Base. Still, he was lonely, because he had not found his soul mate.
Then one day, he came home to Lakeland, Florida after a family cruise. As he unloaded the luggage, he spotted a beautiful girl in the driveway. She was house sitting and caring for a three-legged dog named Bingo. Later, he would smile and say, “Little did she know, she was standing in the driveway with me that day.”
From a Kauai Fire Station to Lakeland Pressure Washing
After a whirlwind four weeks together, he flew back to Hawaii. However, island life now felt gray without her. So he asked his Assistant Chief, Wally, for advice. In his Hawaiian pidgin, Wally said, “You gotta set your life.”
Without knowing what the future held, he followed his instinct. He sold his sailboat, bought a ticket home and was back by Valentine’s Day with a ring. They married that summer.
Still, he missed being a firefighter. So he asked himself how he could work from a truck with pumps, hoses and nozzles, yet be home every evening with his family.
That question became Top Down Exterior Cleaning. Today, the fight is against algae, mildew and dirt instead of fire, one house at a time.
It has been over fifteen years now, and both the business and the family have grown. Life could not be any better for Colie, Sara, Logan and our little girl, Megan!
